Goodwill unveils new library for charter high school

Funds provided through $206,000 Department of Education library grant

PHOENIX (November 3, 2009) — Ecademie Charter High School, which runs under the support of Goodwill of Central Arizona, will unveil its new library on Nov. 5 at its Phoenix campus to help foster a successful  learning environment for its at-risk student population. The library was made possible through a $206,000 grant from the Improving Literacy through School Libraries program run through the U.S. Department of Education. Ecademie was the only school in Arizona to receive such a grant. As part of the grant, the library will be open to the local communities on Saturdays.

Tucson -- With Halloween approaching, many people’s thoughts turn to ghostly costumes, candy, pumpkins, and spooky home decorations.  While adults and children greatly enjoy these festivities, HSSA wants to remind everyone that this holiday can mean danger for the family pet. Many dogs and cats escape while homeowners open their doors to trick-or-treaters, or get sick if they find their way into Halloween treats. Goodwill opens two new Career Centers to meet record demand for services

PHOENIX (Oct. 26, 2009) — Unemployment continues to be a major issue for many Arizonans and Goodwill is opening two new Career Centers on Oct. 27 to respond to the increased demand for its employment services. Goodwill’s Career Centers provide the unemployed, underemployed and those with vocational barriers a supportive place to assist them in reaching their employment goals.
